Besides academics, the girls are encouraged to explore their individual talents in music, art, sports or in other activities like tailoring, embroidery, food preservation etc. Volunteers from IIT Guwahati visit Sishugram regularly to coach the girls and to help them improve their skills. Besides, there are plans of setting up a food processing centre a fishery and an horticultural garden.

After leaving Sishugram

Officially, our girls have to leave Sishugram when they attain the age of 18 years. Efforts are made to get the girls enrolled in higher educational institutions or to find them some means of earning their livelihood by the time they leave. Over the years as many girls have left Sishugram and gone on to live their lives but they still consider Sishugram as their home and return to it from time to time especially during festivals and holidays.
